EBay To Appeal Huge French Counterfeit Ruling

Professor Mark Lemley is quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle about a "ruling against EBay by a French commercial court that found it was liable for facilitating the sale of counterfeit luxury goods":

"If the courts here adopt a rule that you should proactively keep bad things off the Internet, a business model like eBay's is just not possible," said Mark Lemley, an Internet law professor at Stanford University.
