The Center for Law and the Biosciences, in conjunction with the Stanford Interdisciplinary Group on Neuroscience and Society (SIGNS) and with support from Stanford Law School, NeuroVentures, and the Stanford Institute for Neuroinnovation and Translational Neuroscience, is putting on a show! Well, a conference.

On Friday, April 1, 2011 (no fooling), we will be hosting at Stanford Law School an open, public meeting on Law and Memory. The first session will explore our current scientific understandings of memory, the second will look at the scientific issues and possible legal implications of detecting memory, and the third will make a similar investigation of manipulating memories. The conference is being organized by Professor Nita Farahany of Vanderbilt, visiting currently at Stanford Law School; Professor Anthony Wagner and Dr. Jesse Rissman of Stanford’s Psychology Department; and Hank Greely of Stanford Law School. Confirmed speakers so far include the four organizers; neuroscientists Felipe Fregni, Adam Kolber, Kevin LaBar, Elizabeth Loftus, James McGaugh, Peter Rosenfeld, and Joel Voss; and lawyers/law professors Adam Kolber, Carter Snead, and Bill Solmer.
