Members of the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues To Speak at Stanford Law School

Stanford Law School is privileged to have Nita Farahany, a professor at Vanderbilt Law School and member of the President’s Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues, visiting this term.   On Monday, November 7, the Center for Law and the Biosciences will host an afternoon talk by Prof. Farahany and her fellow commissioner, UCSF School of Medicine’s Stephen Hauser.  The two will discuss the PCSBI’s work, including its investigations of:

  • U.S.-sponsored “research” infecting vulnerable Guatemalans with venereal diseases
  • Democratic oversight of synthetic biology
  • Protections for human research participants.

The Commissioners’ talk will be followed by an informal reception.
