Law Technology Now: Josh Becker on Lex Machina

Law Technology Now, from the Legal Talk Network, relaunches today with three episodes just in time for Legaltech New York. Josh Becker,  CEO of Lex Machina, discusses the company’s roots at Stanford Law; how the startup developed data analytics that help lawyers make make decisions about litigating intellectual property matters; and the company’s recent acquistion by LexisNexis. (You might be surprised to learn why the company’s original name was changed.) Check out “Data Analytics: The Art of the Win,” with host Monica Bay.

The second program going live today is “Legal Research Software: Mapping Data to Save Time and Improve Access. It introduces Law Technology Now’s new co-host, attorney/journalist Robert “Bob” Ambrogi, who interviews Ed Walters, founder and CEO of Fastcase. Bob and Ed discuss how text-based searches of yesterday are giving way to the interactive visualization of data—giving lawyers more control over (and increased awareness) of research projects.

And here’s our introduction podcast that announces the return of LTNow.

Bob and I go back seemingly forever: We both ran units at ALM (he was the Editor-in-Chief of the National Law Journal and Editorial Director, Litigation Services Division; I lead Law Technology News). For 15 years, Bob wrote a column, “Web Watch,” for LTNews. Our only ongoing disagreement: Yankees (me), Red Sox (Bob).
