Updated with more event info and a new job for Carolyn Casey : The International Legal Technology Association (aka ILTA) is gearing up for its annual ILTACON later this month, and we’re starting to hear about some of the various awards that will be presented during the five-day conference (Sunday, August 28 through Thursday, Sept. 1).

David Horrigan: Among the announcements are the ILTA Publication Awards. David Horrigan, E-Discovery Counsel and Legal Content Director  at kCura, has won this year’s “Outstanding Vendor-Contributed Magazine Article,” for his “3 Legal Lessons from the Mobility Movement” which ran in ILTA’s Fall 2015 issue of Peer to Peer Magazine.

His article  focused on mobile workforce: Horrigan addressed 1) “Employers are often allowed to access their employees’ mobile data, but they should proceed with caution; 2) Have a comprehensive mobile technology policy, and make sure it’s adaptable to emerging technologies; and 3) Mobile technology is a growing issue for everyone.”

Horrigan will be honored at the annual ILTA Distinquished Peer Awards ceremony and dinner on Aug. 30 at 6:30 p.m. Congrats to Horrigan and all the other award winners!

Sheryl Nolan: Also during ILTACON, Microsoft’s Sheryl Nolan will be honored for her leadership encouraging and inspiring girls and women to pursue STEM careers (science, technology, engineering and math). She spearheaded the launch of Microsoft Corp.’s “Matter Center for Office 365, an open-source, cloud-based document review hub, and for access to justice initiatives, writes Gabrielle Orum Hernandez about the award today at Legaltech News.

The award will be presented on August 30 as part of the Women Who Lead educational session, “Women and Leadership: Same Problems, Same Approaches?” 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be presented by The Monica Bay STEM Leadership Award Committee, in conjunction of Women in Tech; Women Who Lead; and ILTA.

Carolyn Casey: Speaking of women in the news, Teague Communications reports that Carolyn Casey has been named Senior Director of Industry Relations at Utah-based AccessData. “In this newly created position at AccessData, Casey will help the company interact more closely with key members of the market to discuss trends and challenges important to AccessData’s client base, while adding transparency around the company’s vision, explained Lori Tyler, Vice President, Marketing at AccessData. Casey, based in Portland, Ore.,  was profiled last year in Legaltech News’ “Women of Legal Tech” series (aka STEM Cells). Press release here.
