Hi Everyone,

Our next CodeX meeting is this Thursday May 2, from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time, in Room N112 of the Neukom Building of Stanford Law School.

This week we’ll feature legal innovators from Brazil, a country of over 200 million people with nearly 1,300 law schools, 1.2 million lawyers, and tens of millions of new cases filed each year. Our presenters (all remote) will discuss innovation in legal technology, law firms, and legal education:

  • Rafael Costa, JusBrasilJusBrasil is the largest website for collecting and organizing governmental information in Brazil. More than 30 thousand new documents are added to JusBrasil’s data base every day. With 8.5 million monthly unique users, JusBrasil is using crowdsourcing to enrich its content and make the Brazilian citizen more aware of their rights and duties. Over 75% of Brazilian attorneys have a profile on JusBrasil.
  • Fabio Cendão, Faria, Cendão & Maia. FCM is an innovative Rio de Janeiro-based boutique law firm that leverages legal design, legal technology, and accessible legal information to serve Brazilian entrepreneurs.
  • Prof. Marina Feferbaum, FGV Direito SPProfessor Feferbaum will present a report, “Technology, Education and Legal Professions”, a comprehensive effort to map how information technology is approached by legal professionals in the Brazilian legal market. The project involved a group of ten full-time researchers and gathered information from more than four hundred legal businesses throughout the Brazilian territory.

See you then!

Roland
