Legal Assistance
How to Become a Client of the CLC
Because we are a law school educational program, CLC does not take on as large a volume of cases as an independent legal services office. We get most of our cases as referrals from community partner agencies. If you are interested in becoming a client of the Community Law Clinic, you may call us directly at 650.725.9200. If you are seeking help within one of our practice areas, a legal assistant will call you back to discuss your situation. However, she may refer you to another agency for intake.
CLC takes new cases only during the academic year (October-June), and we close intake when our students have as many cases and clients as they can competently handle. If we are closed for intake when you call, the receptionist will give you referrals to other agencies that may be able to help you. If your case is not urgent, she will tell you when you should call back to learn if intake has re-opened.
