Biography
Craig Atkinson is a Trade Development Specialist with the United Nations, Director of Lexmerca International Trade, and a non-residential Fellow with the Stanford-Vienna Transatlantic Technology Law Forum (TTLF) at Stanford Law School. Since 2016, he has worked with the non-profit Xalgorithms Foundation to advance free/open and libre approaches for the digitalization of trade policy. Craig holds multidisciplinary graduate and undergraduate degrees, with an emphasis on international economic law. He has also held fellowship positions at universities in both North America and Europe. Most recently, from 2017 to 2019, he was a Visiting Research Fellow with the World Trade Institute of the University of Bern.
Craig’s applied research focuses on computational approaches to the design/accessibility of trade rules and the regulation of technologies that can affect the digital transformation of international commerce. In this context, he has contributed to the World Economic Forum’s Inclusive Growth Framework, the World Trade Organization’s Enhanced Integrated Framework and the publications of several other international organizations. Craig has been a TTLF Fellow since 2020.
