Biography
Monami Nohara is a judge from Japan, and is a Visiting Scholar at Stanford Law School’s Gould Negotiation and Mediation Program. Her research at Stanford focuses on redesigning civil dispute resolution systems, especially on how the government can efficiently involve in terms of providing budget and training professionals.
Monami has been working in the civil division of Tokyo District Court for over 3 years and has dealt with various types of civil cases, including enforcement cases. Since Japan began to implement the e-court system for limited civil procedures during her years in Tokyo, she became interested in how to make full use of digital technology in court, and also how to design dispute resolutions (including alternatives) that would relieve burden for both the parties and the judges.
Monami holds law degrees from Keio University Law School in Japan.
