Biography
Omar Vasquez Duque is a lecturer at Stanford University (Econ 154/PublPol 106/206) and an Academic Fellow at the Rock Center for Corporate Governance. He has formal training in law, economic theory, econometrics, and behavioral science.
Omar is qualified to practice as a barrister in Chile, where he worked for the national antitrust authority, handling monopolization (abuse of dominance) cases in unregulated and regulated markets—mainly financial and pharmaceutical markets. Omar also taught seminars on antitrust and law and economics at Universidad de Chile and was a visiting researcher at the University of Oxford Centre for Competition Law and Policy before starting his LL.M. at Harvard Law School. Right before coming to Stanford, Omar worked as a competition expert for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), conducting a competition assessment of the pharmaceutical sector in Mexico.
