Shanti is the Litigation and Advocacy Fellow at the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic. Prior to joining the IRC, Shanti was an Immigrant Justice Corps Fellow at the Community Development Project at the Urban Justice Center (now Takeroot Justice). In that role, she worked closely with community based organizations throughout New York City and provided direct representation to their members in a variety of humanitarian immigration matters, including affirmative and defensive asylum, relief for survivors of trafficking, and requests for stays of removal. Before moving to NYC, she was the State Bar Foundation Fellow at the Michigan Immigrants’ Rights Center where she represented survivors of violence throughout Michigan A Bay Area native, Shanti is licensed in Michigan, and is happy to be back in California.
