“Beyond the UN Guiding Principles: Strategies to Improve Corporate Compliance with Human Rights”
A Talk by Professor Justine Nolan
Justine Nolan is Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and Deputy Director of the Australian Human Rights Centre. She has published on international human rights and, in particular, accountability for corporate violations of human rights. She is co-author of The International Law of Human Rights (OUP, 2011), and teaches on international human rights law, development, globalization, and business and human rights. She is an editor of the Australian Journal of Human Rights and the Human Rights Defender. She is currently a Visiting Scholar at NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights.
Until 2004, Prof. Nolan served as the Director of the Business and Human Rights program at the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights (now Human Rights First), examining ways to prevent and redress corporate violations of human rights. She was closely involved in the establishment of the Fair Labor Association. In addition, Professor Nolan has worked with the United Nations on business and human rights initiatives, and has worked in both public interest and private practice.
