Join Brian Connors, Chief Deputy State Public Defender at the Colorado Public Defender’s Office, to hear about public defense and opportunities available to students.
The Colorado Public Defender is a state-funded agency responsible for indigent criminal defense in all of Colorado’s 64 counties. They hire lawyers and paid interns who make a commitment to statewide placement.
The Colorado Public Defender offers unpaid or for-credit post-1L internships. See their website for detailed information. Offices near Boulder and Denver do panel interviews and coordinated selection of post-1L interns. Students may apply directly to offices beyond Boulder and Denver. Contact information for each office is on their website. Post-1L interns perform research and writing and can expect extensive client contact in the office and at county jails.
Applicants may forward resume and cover letter to carol.gutierrez@coloradodefenders.us. CPD will be interviewing at the Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair Arlington, VA, in October 2016.
Special Note: check out the employer evaluation from an SLS student who spent her summer there. (requires SUNet login)
