You’re invited to a discussion with Peter Thiel, BA ’89, JD ’92, co-founder of PayPal and the first outside investor in Facebook, about his new book Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future

You can pre-order a copy of Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future now.
Books will also be available to purchase onsite, and Peter will be autographing copies after the event.

Thiel argues that tomorrow’s business champions won’t win by competing harder in today’s marketplace. The next breakthrough startup won’t look like Facebook or Google—because every moment in business happens only once. Successful startups will pioneer unknown territories and create new things rather than imitate or iterate on past successes. Zero to One challenges professionals to look for secrets: what is true and important that others don’t see? Every valuable business is built on a secret, and if we want to build a better future for our society as a whole, we have to search for them relentlessly.

Based on a course Thiel taught at Stanford in 2012, Zero to One aims to help readers see beyond the tracks laid down by academic specialties and conventional career paths to the broader future which is theirs to create. Join us for this timely discussion on what it means to be innovative today in Silicon Valley.

A Q&A will follow, moderated by M. Elizabeth Magill, Richard E. Lang Professor of Law and Dean, Stanford Law School.

Space is limited, so registration is required. Kindly RSVP by Wednesday, September 24.

This event is co-sponsored by Stanford Law School and BASES.
