Please join SLS’s Environmental and Natural Resources Law & Policy Program and the Levin Center for a co-sponsored “Careers in Climate” discussion focused on environmental litigation. SLS alums Peter Broderick, Urban Wildlands Legal Director and Senior Attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity, and Elena Saxonhouse, Managing Attorney at the Sierra Club, will discuss their work and their career trajectories and answer your questions. Lunch will be provided.

Peter Broderick, Urban Wildlands Legal Director, Senior Attorney, works in the Center’s Urban Wildlands program to oppose sprawl development and protect habitat and species in the wildland-urban interface. Peter also has experience advising community groups on local land-use initiatives; opposing oil and gas development; and defending protective land-use, public-health, and safety regulations. Peter received his law degree from Stanford Law School and his undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon.
Elena Saxonhous, Managing Attorney, joined Sierra Club in 2008 to work on the Club’s Beyond Coal campaign and began her time there challenging new coal plant proposals across the country. Since 2010, Elena has supported the campaign’s work to retire existing coal plants in Texas and Michigan, providing strategic direction and coordination as well as representing the Club in litigation. Elena also manages the Environmental Law Program’s efforts to ensure government transparency and accountability through strategic use of the Freedom of Information Act.
Prior to Sierra Club, Elena had worked for Earthjustice and local land use firm Shute, Mihaly, & Weinberger as well as clerking at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. She graduated from Stanford Law School and received her undergraduate degree from Yale
