Closing argument in the trial phrase of the United States Supreme Court case of Montana v. North Dakota and Wyoming will be held before Special Master Barton Thompson, the Robert E. Paradise Professor in Natural Resources Law, on May 1, 2014 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Moot Courtroom in the Stanford Law Building, room 80. The argument is expected to last most of the morning and possibly extend into the afternoon, and will cover interstate water rights issues arising from the Yellowstone River Compact of 1950 between the States of Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming.

Montana Attorney General Tim Fox, and Wyoming Attorney General Peter Michael, will be attending the argument and they have agreed to make a joint presentation over the lunch hour, from 12:45pm to 2pm p.m., in room SLS, 190. They will be discussing current issues of natural resources law in the Rocky Mountain West, including legal issues involving water rights, energy development, air quality, and federalism issues. They will also touch on legal careers in natural resources law, and preparation for such careers in both public service and private law practice. They are enthusiastic about entertaining your questions. Lunch will be provided. The presentation will be broadcast to the University of Montana and University of Wyoming law schools.
