The Stanford Criminal Justice Center and Center on the Legal Profession invite you to join a small student discussion with former Attorney General, Eric Holder.

Eric H. Holder, Jr., served under President Barack Obama as the nation’s 82nd, and first African-American Attorney General from 2009 – 2015. Right out of law school, Holder worked for the Public Integrity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice from 1976 to 1988. From 1988 to 1993, Holder served as a Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia through an appointment by President Ronald Reagan. In 1993, he accepted an appointment by President Bill Clinton as a U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

In 1997, President Clinton promoted Holder to the position of Deputy Attorney General, which he held until nominated as Attorney General by President Obama in 2008 and confirmed by the Senate in February 2009. He served through President Obama’s first term and the first half of his second. On September 25, 2014, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that he would be resigning after nearly 6 years as a member of President Obama’s Cabinet. In April 2015, Loretta E. Lynch was sworn in as the nations 83rd and first African-American woman to serve as Attorney General.
