Critical Conversations on Race, Power, and the Curriculum: Crim & Con Law

- This event has passed.
Crit Convos are back! After a winter quarter hiatus, we’re excited to take a look back at Criminal and Constitutional Law. A Critical Conversation on Property will follow–date to be announced.
Critical Conversations are a series of informal discussions, facilitated by 2Ls and 3Ls, that consider 1L doctrinal courses through a Critical Race Theory lens. As first-year law students, many of us felt that our courses lacked sufficient analysis of how race, racism, settler colonialism, white supremacy, cis-heteropatriarchy, class, exploitative labor practices, “objectivity,” and other vectors of power shape how the law functions. We hope that these conversations will help you build the tools and language to critique what we see happening around us. We also hope that Critical Conversations can be a space to process our lived experiences inside and outside of the classroom.
