This talk by Professor Yifat Holzman-Gazit from the Haim Striks School of Law, College of Management Academic Studies, Israel examines the nature of media criticism of Supreme Courts through a case study of press critique of the Israeli Supreme Court from 2000 to 2011. Drawing on insights from theories of journalistic criticism and from studies of the public legitimacy of Supreme Courts, she offers a new framework for analyzing the nature and patterns of press criticism by distinguishing between diffuse and specific criticism, by examining the context of the coverage, and by analyzing criticism separately from political framing and the tone of the article.
