Political Polarization: Finding Solutions

Political polarization dominates almost every discussion of American politics today. The gap between the two political parties can be seen most clearly in Washington and especially in Congress, but also among American voters themselves. As the parties have diverged further and further, dysfunction in the government has skyrocketed. The question facing government and political scholars today is, “How do we tackle the problem of polarization and restore effective governance?”

Join BPC and the National Capital Area Political Science Association (NCAPSA) on June 22 for a discussion on polarization in our political system with Nathaniel Persily, editor of Solutions to Political Polarization in America, moderated by John Fortier, director of BPC’s Democracy Project, and Matthew Green, associate professor of politics at Catholic University and incoming president of NCAPSA. Participants will include authors who contributed to the book, copies of which will be available for purchase at the event.
