Professor Heather Wipfli (University of Southern California) will speak about her new book The Global War on Tobacco: Mapping the World’s First Public Health Treaty. She will discuss how anti-tobacco advocates worked together to enact the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which regulates the production, sale, distribution, advertisement, and taxation of tobacco. Her talk will be followed by a brief conversation with Professor Michelle Mello of Stanford Law School and Stanford School of Medicine. This event is jointly hosted by the Center for Law and the Biosciences and the Center for Innovation in Global Health.
