SUMMARY:Anatomy of a Mass Tort: Inside the Roundup Litigation
DESCRIPTION:Roundup is the most widely used weedkiller in the world — and the subject of one of the largest mass torts in American history. Bayer has committed billions to settlements\, and this June the Supreme Court handed the company a landmark win in Monsanto v. Durnell. Behind the headlines is the machinery that decided who won and lost: a single federal judge in San Francisco steering tens of thousands of consolidated cases\, bellwether trials\, courtroom battles over the science and the experts\, a failed class action attempt\, and now\, a state court class action 2.0. The lawyers who have fought—and continue to fight—this litigation will tell the story from the inside: what it takes to build (or defend) a case of this scale\, what the trials were really like\, and what happens now.
