The invitation-only event will explore how intellectual-property issues are affecting clean-energy innovation and investment between the U.S. and China. This is the second annual intellectual-property workshop of the U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center, an effort launched jointly by U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao in 2009. As part of that research effort, companies, universities and national laboratories in both countries are working together in three clean-energy fields: energy-efficient buildings, advanced coal technologies, and clean vehicles. The research effort’s first intellectual-property workshop was held in March 2012 in Hainan, China.

The Stanford conference will feature moderated interview-style panels, and case studies in which business executives, researchers and lawyers will discuss their experiences. It also will feature keynote talks by high-level government officials and break-out sessions for deeper exploration of specific topics.
