In partnership with the Stanford Institutional Investors Forum (SIIF), the Stanford Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance is convening a group of senior pension fund investors on June 3, 2015 in New York City to discuss portfolio strategies, data sources, and tools for navigating climate exposure and capitalizing on innovation opportunities.

This gathering of Investing in a New Climate is designed for pension fund CIOs or investment officers with discretion over capital allocation. Unlike other conversations about finance and fossil fuels, Investing in a New Climate will move beyond the simple narrative of “divestment” and into executable strategies to address climate exposure that have efficacy for both economic and environmental outcomes.

Specifically, the program is designed to engage attendees with Stanford faculty, best-in-class practitioners, and peer investors to:

• define climate exposure

• gain familiarity with current tools to assess climate risk in a portfolio,

• survey the landscape of opportunities, including vehicles for direct investment,

• explore the issue of climate change in the context of fiduciary duty,

• build a community of climate wise investors.
