Maureen Keffer directs the Indigenous Program at California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. (CRLA). The Indigenous Program provides legal advocacy and educational outreach to California’s rural indigenous communities on issues including farmworkers’ employment rights, discrimination, and language access. Maureen began her legal career as a Stanford Public Interest Fellow with the Indigenous Program in CRLA’s Salinas office. She received her B.A. from Georgetown University and her J.D. from Stanford Law School. Prior to law school, Maureen worked for five years with organizations promoting human rights and economic development in indigenous communities in Oaxaca, Mexico.
