Lecture: What Does It Mean To Be a Conservative Judge?

Judge Griffith was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit by President George W. Bush in 2005. He earned his B.A. from Brigham Young University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. Judge Griffith was a partner at the Washington, D. C. law firm of Wiley, Rein & Fielding and served a term as Senate Legal Counsel, the chief legal officer of the United States Senate. Immediately prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Griffith was the General Counsel of Brigham Young University. His work at BYU focused primarily on religious liberty issues in American higher education. He has long been active in efforts to promote the rule of law in the former communist states of Eastern and Central Europe and Eurasia. Judge Griffith teaches at Stanford Law School.
