Please join ACS and SNSLS on Friday, October 22 at 1pm for a discussion with Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent Spencer Ackerman on his experiences covering the most pressing national security issues of the last two decades and his new book Reign of Terror, which examines how the now generation-long War on Terror has undermined protection of civil liberties and basic human rights while paving the way for the rise of American authoritarianism.

The discussion and subsequent Q&A will be moderated by Professor Allen Weiner, and lunch will be served in Crocker Garden before the event at 12:45pm.

Spencer Ackerman has been a national security correspondent for outlets like The New Republic, Wired, The Guardian, and The Daily Beast for nearly the entire War on Terror. He has reported on the front lines of Afghanistan, Iraq, and Guantanamo Bay. He shared the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for Edward Snowden’s NSA leaks to The Guardian, along with numerous other awards, and his Wired series on Islamophobic counterterrorism training at the FBI won a 2012 National Magazine Award for Digital Media Reporting.
