The Salt Lake City Law Chapter cordially invites you to lunch and conversation with Mitch Edwards, JD ’86, and fellow alumni. Mitch will talk about his experience at Overstock.com, a leading online retailer of home decor, furniture, bedding, and other merchandise, as well as his corporate and legal experiences at companies including Razer, Skullcandy, and BitTorrent. He will also discuss the challenges and opportunities Overstock.com faces with increasing competition in the digital age, online shopping, and a global marketplace.

About the Speaker

Mitch Edwards is currently Acting Chief Executive Officer of Overstock.com (Nasdaq:OSTK), and has served as General Counsel since joining Overstock.com in 2015. Prior to Overstock.com, Mr. Edwards was CFO & General Counsel for Razer Inc., a leading global PC gaming laptop and peripheral manufacturer headquartered in Singapore, where he led international expansion, M&A, and preparation for an IPO. From 2009 to 2012, Mr. Edwards served as CFO & General Counsel of Skullcandy Inc. (Nasdaq:SKUL) and was primarily responsible for Skullcandy’s IPO in 2011, as well as its global expansion. From 2007 to 2010, he was CFO & General Counsel for BitTorrent, Inc., Groxis, Inc., and Digital Courier Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:DCTI), where he led the IPO, numerous acquisitions and other M&A activity, and global expansion.

Prior to his service as CFO and CEO of hi-tech, internet, and consumer electronics companies, Mr. Edwards was a partner at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in Los Angeles and San Francisco, where he specialized in IPOs, venture capital, M&A, and international business transactions. He started his career at Shearman & Sterling in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, and also worked at Andrews & Kurth in Los Angeles. Mr. Edwards holds a JD from Stanford Law School and received a BA/MA in Jurisprudence and International Business Law from Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar. Mr. Edwards also holds a BA in Economics from Brigham Young University, where he was valedictorian. He lived abroad for many years in Singapore, England, and Italy. He has also worked at the White House and in the United States Supreme Court.

He currently lives in Park City, UT, where he skis, mountain bikes, climbs, and regularly explores Moab and Lake Powell.
