Advances in genetics, stem cell technology and assisted reproduction are likely to substantially diminish at least one meaning of “sex” in human life–the use of sexual intercourse to conceive the next generation. SLS alumni are invited to join fellow Stanford alumni as leading health-law expert and Stanford Professor Hank Greely explores the ethical, legal, social and practical implications of this brave new world of human reproduction.

Hank Greely, ’74, Deane F. and Kate Edelman Johnson Professor of Law and professor, by courtesy, of genetics, is a leading expert and author on the legal, ethical, and social issues surrounding health law and the biosciences. Professor Greely specializes in the legal implications of new biomedical technologies, especially those related to genetics, neuroscience and stem cells. He frequently serves as an advisor on California, national and international policy issues and chairs the California Advisory Committee on Human Stem Cell Research.
