SLS BAA Conversations with Faculty: Professor Richard Ford

- This event has passed.
Our first Conversations with Faculty event will feature Richard Thompson Ford, BA ’88, George E. Osborne Professor of Law. The conversation will be moderated by Nichelle Carr, JD ‘03, who is a Creative Producer, Media & Business Executive, and Non-Profit Leader.
An expert on civil rights and anti-discrimination law, Professor Ford has distinguished himself as an insightful voice and compelling writer on questions of race and multiculturalism. At the university level, Professor Ford is serving on a committee to develop university-wide guidance on classroom speech, including the use of racial epithets, in view of the “Leonard Law” and past litigation holding Stanford University’s speech code an unconstitutional infringement on free speech in the 1990s. Professor Ford is also on a university committee making recommendations for the future of race and ethnic studies at Stanford, a special advisory council to the President on issues affecting the Black Community. We encourage you to read Professor Ford’s new book, Dress Codes: How the Laws of Fashion Made History.
We hope you will join us for this special opportunity to meaningfully connect with SLS faculty!
