September 26, 2016 marked two years of impunity for the disappearance of 43 students from the Escuela Normal Rural de Ayotzinapa, in Guerrero, Mexico. Since then, the Ayotzinapa case has become emblematic of the widespread crisis of enforced disappearances in Mexico. Meanwhile, the 43 students’ families’ demand of the Mexican government has been simple, yet gone unanswered: ‘¿Dónde están nuestros hijos?’ (‘Where are our children?)
Please join Mario César González Contreras, father of disappeared student César Manuel González Hernández, and Felipe de la Cruz, spokesperson for the families of the 43, as they discuss their two-year struggle for justice.
The discussion will take place in Spanish. Refreshments will be provided.
Organized by the Stanford Human Rights Center, the Stanford International Human Rights Law Association, and the Center for Latin-American Studies.
