Stanford Law Review Symposium: State Constitutions

The Stanford Law Review, the Stanford Constitutional Law Center, the Stanford Federalist Society and the Stanford American Constitution Society are pleased to bring together prominent legal scholars, practitioners, and judges to have an important and timely discussion about state constitutions. This is an area of the law that has been insufficiently addressed in the legal literature, yet is a critically important source of law in our system of federalism. Specifically, we will discuss theoretical issues of state constitutions; the amendment process and public participation; contemporary issues of state constitutional law, such as gay marriage; how state constitutional provisions can inform the common law, direct democracy and the California experience; and judicial elections and ethics.
This event is free and open to the public; registration required. MCLE will be available.
