Join the Stanford Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) for “Disorientation” on Friday, October 20th in Room 90 from 12:45 – 2:00. Lunch will be served. As we move through the quarter, it is very easy to get lost in the maze and intricacies of case law, and lose sight of the social context and consequences of what we are reading. Professor Gregory Ablavsky will help you develop a different way of reading and analyzing cases, one which embraces the tensions often found in difficult issues and examines the facts from multiple perspectives.
If you are bothered when a decision seems to be unfairly minimizing certain facts or not finding them “relevant” to the outcome, or you are just interested in different methods of interpreting cases, you will find this event intellectually stimulating and useful. You will also learn more about the National Lawyers Guild – a progressive association of lawyers dedicated to advancing movements for social, racial, and economic justice. We believe in the principle “human rights above property interests.”
