Structuring International Deals to Maximize Investment Treaty Protection: a Discussion of International Transactions and Investor-State Arbitration
Presented by Marc Suskin, Partner, Chadbourne & Parke LLP and Sandra Friedrich, PhD Candidate in International Investment Law, Cologne University
Monday, March 11, 2014, 2 to 4 pm
Investors are increasingly aware of the investment protections offered by bilateral and multilateral investment treaties. However, not all investment treaties are alike, with some offering stronger or more extensive protections than others. Careful advance planning is necessary to ensure that investors make their investments using the right investment vehicle and transaction structure to obtain the best treaty protections possible.
During this panel discussion, the presenters will use their experience and insight to explain options for investment treaty planning to maximize treaty protection, pointing out potential obstacles and pitfalls along the way.
This presentation will be followed by an interactive Q&A session on careers in international arbitration and public international law.
