SUMMARY:The Legal Roots of California's Housing Crisis
DESCRIPTION:Join the American Constitution Society (ACS) and Stanford Coalition for Abundance Law (SCALE) for a lunch conversation on the legal architecture of California’s housing crisis. Chris Elmendorf (UC Davis Law) will discuss his work on the Builder’s Remedy\, Housing Accountability Act enforcement\, and state-level approval pathways for large-scale development. Evelyn Danforth-Scott (ACLU) will draw on her Stanford Law Review Note laying out the federal constitutional case against Proposition 13. Together they’ll take up why California can’t build and what the law can do about it. Lunch provided.
