Join us for a talk by Gary Reback, SLS '74, author of Free the Market! : Why Only Government Can Keep the Marketplace Competitive.
Co-hosted by the Robert Crown Law Library, Stanford Intellectual Property Association and Stanford Law and Technology Association.
Gary Reback, SLS '74, of counsel at Carr & Ferrell LLP, specializes in antitrust and intellectual property litigation. He has represented a number of Silicon Valley's best known companies and taken a leading role in high profile antitrust cases, such as DOJ v. Microsoft and Lotus v. Borland.
Gary is the author of Free the Market!: Why Only Government Can Keep the Marketplace Competitive (2009), and is the co-founder of the Open Book Alliance http://www.openbookalliance.org, created in response to the terms of the Google Book Settlement.
Come hear Gary's perspective on why the Google Books Settlement raises antitrust issues more than copyright issues, why the issue should be about search and whether Google should be able to extend its search monopoly through the legal stratagem of a class action settlement.
Snacks & home-baked sweets served! Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch.
