Larry Kramer takes a deep look at U.S. democracy today, asking “How can we preserve and reawaken the attitudes and practices that make our democratic institutions work?” He illuminates some surprising findings over the past five years from the Hewlett Foundation Madison Initiative, including continuing joint projects with the Policy Lab on new developments in voting technology and preventing the spread of fake news and misinformation.
