SUMMARY:Challenging Impunity: International Law\, Advocacy\, and Accountability in Palestine
DESCRIPTION:Amid mounting challenges to the international rules-based order and a longstanding pattern of impunity\, the pursuit of justice and accountability in Palestine requires creative and strategic thinking to overcome political\, legal\, and diplomatic hurdles. How can international human rights law\, strategic advocacy\, and a range of international and domestic legal and policy mechanisms be leveraged to challenge systemic impunity?\n\nJoin us for a conversation on law\, strategy\, and justice featuring Omar Shakir\, Executive Director of Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) and former Israel and Palestine Director at Human Rights Watch. Drawing on his experience leading frontline human rights advocacy in Palestine and the Middle East\, Shakir will describe the ongoing atrocities in Palestine and explore how civil society and advocates are using legal mechanisms and practical strategies to challenge impunity and fight for justice and accountability under international law.\n\nhttps://law.stanford.edu/event/challenging-impunity-international-law-advocacy-and-accountability-in-palestine/\n\nThis event is open to the Stanford community.\n\nRegister: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfDj3EL_q5kLkrSHf2cga5n8tHKrFyPG7aemzaE7zqpjKkwGA/viewform?usp=publish-editor
