SUMMARY:CS x Law Evening: At the Intersection of AI and Legal Thinking
DESCRIPTION:What do CS students need to know about law? What do law students need to know about CS? \nThese are the questions driving this evening\, a night of cross-disciplinary exchange bringing together CS and law students over dinner to have the conversations that don’t usually happen. \nIf you’re a CS student: law is one of the most demanding and consequential use cases for AI: high-stakes reasoning\, adversarial contexts\, and zero tolerance for hallucination. Come understand what makes it hard\, and what makes it exciting. \nIf you’re a law student: AI is already reshaping legal practice\, and the students building these tools are one room away. Come learn what LLMs can and can’t do\, and leave with a clearer sense of where the opportunities and the difficulties are. \nHow the evening works: We’ll open with two short presentations\, one from the CS side unpacking how LLMs really work (and where they fail)\, one from the law side on the core values and realities of legal practice. We’ll then move into mixed roundtable discussions\, with tables split half CS / half law\, guided by discussion cards on questions like: who’s liable when AI causes harm?
