Summary

On September 26, 2014 in the state of Guerrero, Mexico, 43 students disappeared. An independent, interdisciplinary group of experts appointed by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (of which SHRC Director Jim Cavallaro is President) found numerous flaws and contradictions in the investigation that the Mexican state initiated. On November 10, 2016, the Inter-American Commission announced the plan of work for the follow-up mechanism to uncover the truth about what happened to the missing students.
