In a jailhouse interview, Rafael Rodriguez, one of three Santa Clara County Jail guards facing murder charges in the alleged attack of a mentally ill inmate, says he is innocent. The interview was conducted by the Bay Area News Group.

Robert Weisberg, a Stanford Law School professor specializing in criminal justice, said the prompt action by the sheriff’s office and the arrests themselves were “extremely unusual.”
