Litigation in the Inter-American Court

Clinic students participate in supporting the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) in litigation before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.  In doing so, students work closely with Professor James Cavallaro (director of the IHRCR Clinic), one of seven elected Commissioners and currently President of the Commission. In the past, students have engaged in legal research as well as fact-gathering to support litigation before the Inter-Ameircan Court for Human Rights.  In 2015, students traveled to sessions of the Court in Cartagena, Colombia to participate in the litigation team.  To prepare for this work, clinic students first spend a week observing the sessions of the Inter-American Commission in Washington, DC.
