Make Transitional Justice, Not War!

Make Transitional Justice, Not War!

Inesha Premaratne (’21) and Monique Candiff (’21), in partnership with the Institute for Integrated Transitions, conducted interdisciplinary research and developed a mix of country case studies in support of their establishment of an original, comprehensive framework and choice architecture on transitional justice vis-à-vis unconventional armed actors, such as extremist groups and organized criminal gangs. Two advanced students, Gabby McKenzie (20) and Alyssa Martinez (20), further supported IFIT’s work by researching the process of treaty formation and conceptualizing the establishment of a multilateral treaty that might bind states and non-state actors to commit to negotiations as an alternative to the use of force.
