Abstract:

Effective Open Government practices have a great influence on fostering innovation and are essential for the economic development of a country. However, particularly with the emergence of data protection debates around the world, more often it is possible to observe the dealignment of comprehensions on the possibility of the use and share of data held by the public sector, which can significantly affect cross-border data negotiations attempts and harm global innovation. Aware of the importance of a common perspective on the use of data held by the public sector to facilitate data sharing, this project has a core objective of verifying the actual stage of alignment between the US Open, Public, Electronic, and Necessary Government Data Act and the recently approved political agreement on the proposed EU Data Governance Act.
