Jaime Areizaga-Soto, JD/MA ’94, First Hispanic JAG General

Col. Jaime Areizaga-Soto was recently appointed special assistant to the general counsel, National Guard Bureau, and promoted to brigadier general, Army JAG Corps, making him the first Hispanic to hold this rank.

Areizaga-Soto has held a variety of assignments in his exemplary 24-year military career, including commander, National Guard Bureau and 352nd Judge Advocate Headquarters Team, DCNG, Washington, D.C. Earlier in his career, he was a 2007 White House Fellow assigned to the Treasury Department and served as senior attorney adviser at the Office of the General Counsel at USAID. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

Areizaga-Soto has a long history of volunteer work at SLS. He recently participated in a series of alumni interviews for 1L orientation videos, as well as SLS Latinx Alumni Group events this year.
