Professor of Law Michelle Mello (BA ’93) was awarded the 2022 John A. Benson Jr., MD Professionalism Article Prize by the ABIM Foundation for her article, “When Physicians Engage in Practices That Threaten the Nation’s Health” (co-written with Phil Pizzo and David Spiegel). The prize recognizes the best articles written in peer-reviewed journals on issues facing the medical profession in 2021.

Mello was also appointed as a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine committee on the potential value of wastewater surveillance in the prevention and control of infectious diseases.
