Want a quick road trip through Big Law in 2016? Wanna see a truly excellent ‘talking head’ video? Check out Jeffrey Lowe‘s optimistic (and only slightly self-serving) “soliloquy”* about the state-of-the-art in the Am Law 100 (and probably 200) towers.
Lowe is the Global Practice Leader, Law Firm Practice at headhunter firm Major, Lindsey & Africa. He covers extensive ground in the 7.31 minute video (produced by the firm and published on Bloomberg BNA Big Law Business.)
“Big Law 2016: A Look Ahead” addresses numerous key issues ranging from tech, new staffing/work options, jettisoning less productive lawyers, out-sourcing and on-shoring, mergers, and more.
Lowe covers a lot of territory quickly, but it’s high calorie—a crash course addressing some of the most controversial issues within Big Law conference rooms. There’s only a few moments where he slips into “sale” mode. I especially recommend it to the law school community—it maps the terrain you will be facing, whether you decide to focus on technology or a law practice—or both.
But I do have one question: Is that a real window in the background or a really clever green screen? : )
Want more: Check out the same-named article, “BigLaw 2016: A Look Ahead,” by Lowe, who is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. (It ran in Law360 last month. Download: here.)
P. S. We miss you, Martha Fay Africa.
