FutureLaw Afterglow: Sandman Trends to Twitter Top 10

Updated to add link to the YouTube video of the keynote and the link to the Law Technology Now podcast interview (Legal Talk Network). At the May 20th CodeX FutureLaw Conference, James “Jim” Sandman blew the proverbial roof off the building with his inspiring and compelling keynote address “The Technology Revolution, Lawyers and Courts: Why So Slow/ And How Can We Accelerate Change?” And he quickly landed on Twitter’s Top 10 Trend list.

Sandman, President of the Legal Services Corp., offered concrete ways to use technology to improve access to justice—including some novel ideas such as “treating insurance companies as allies—both general insurance companies who rely on standardization and access to legal data for their own work, as well as malpractice insurers that view innovation as a way to decrease risk,” wrote Zach Warren in Legaltech news.

David Curle, Director of Market Intelligence at Thomson Reuters Legal, noted that “this wasn’t your average rant about lawyers and the legal services industry. This was a comprehensive catalog of industry to-dos and not-quite-done-yets, delivered with a refreshing specificity.”
