Robert Ambrogi, on his Law Sites blog yesterday, noted that “Lex Machina has expanded analytics from IP into Security Law,” with other areas to debut in Sept. “Ever since its acquisition by LexisNexis, Lex Machina has planned to use LexisNexis’ extensive collection of federal and state docket data to expand into other practice areas, starting with federal practice areas,” he writes.

“ ‘The whole theory of the acquisition was to enable us to get access to the LexisNexis documents,’ Owen Byrd, Lex Machina’s chief evangelist and general counsel, told me last week,” wrote Ambrogi. “Rolling out securities is our proof point that the acquisition made sense and that it can accelerate our vision of bringing analytics to all practice areas.”

Carla Hayden

 

Congrats to Dr. Carla Hayden, who has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be the 14th Librarian of Congress. She is the first woman and first African-American to take the position, reports Jean O’Grady in her Dewey B Strategic blog. She also served as past president of the American Library Association.

 

(And a shout out to the American Association of Law Libraries, which just wrapped up its annual meeting in Chicago.)
