Bloomberg Big Law Business

• “‘Future’ Report from ABA Plays it Too Safe, (Perspective)” by Stephen Poor, Chair Emeritus, Seyfarth Shaw, continues the controversy about the 116-page “Report on the Future of Legal Services in the U.S.” (See also, Robert Ambrogi’s discussions on the topic with LegalZoom’s Eddie Hartman and then the response by the chair and vice chair of the commission, Judy Perry Martinez and Andrew Pearlman.) Let’s keep these conversations going—it’s so crucial!

• “One of the Army’s First Female Combat Engineers is a Big Law Lawyer,” by Blake Edwards.  “Being a lawyer can be stressful, but maybe not quite as stressful as measuring out appropriate amounts of C-4 explosives or cutting concertina wire so an infantry unit can advance in a combat zone. Alyssa Dowse is the rare person who could compare the two,” he writes.

Malcolm Gladwell

• Do not miss Josh Block‘s podcast with Malcolm Gladwell—it’s fascinating!  He discusses his decision to start the “Revisionist History” podcast. O.K., I’m totally biased, I’ve been a fan of his for years and I also have a podcast (Law Technology Now, co-hosting with Robert Ambrogi). But after listening to Gladwell, I’m inspired to push my boundaries. He’s a great role model!
